Save greenhouse gas emissions

If all households in Canada that currently use either hot or warm water to wash their clothes switch to cold water, enough energy would be saved to light over 2.5 Million Canadian Households for an entire year! Saving this energy would mean approximately 1.5 billion kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent* would be prevented from entering the earth’s atmosphere.  By making the easy Switch to Cold in your laundry room you can make a concrete step to reduce the impact of climate change.

If you're worried about cleaning performance, don't be. New detergents formulated for cold water washing mean great cleaning performance even on tough stains and whites!

*Kgs of CO2emissions have been calculated using the estimated kWh savings and multiplying by .302 kg CO2emissions per kWh (VCR Inc. Challenge Registry Guide to Entity & Facility-Based Reporting. Emissions Factors, 2003. 2001 Ontario figure) assuming a total Canada wide savings in kWh (if everyone switched to cold water washing) of 4.7 billion (Procter & Gamble)
